Health is defined by the WHO as “a state of complete
physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity”. While most of us know what
our “physical” health is, such as the health of our heart and
muscles, many of us don’t know what our “mental” health is.
Mental health is the health of our brain, the organ
responsible for our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. More
broadly, mental health can be defined as “a state of
well-being in which an individual realizes their own abilities,
copes with the normal stresses of life, works productively,
and is able to make a contribution to their community”.
